18 New KwaZulu-Natal Travel Packages — And A Tool That Builds Your Own
We have spent the past few weeks doing something we have wanted to do for a long time: rebuilding what we sell around the province we actually know.
From today there are 18 new travel packages live on profoundtravel.co.za, covering all eight regions of KwaZulu-Natal — Durban Metro, the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg, Zululand, the Elephant Coast, the North Coast, the South Coast, Pietermaritzburg & the Midlands, and the Battlefields. Every one of them bundles accommodation, activities that are genuinely close to where you are sleeping, and transport, into a single trip you can take as it is or change completely.
One, two or three nights — because not everyone has a week
We deliberately built these short. Most South African travel is a weekend, not a fortnight, and there was very little out there designed for that. So there are one-night trips for people who can only get away on a Saturday, two-night packages for the classic long weekend, and three-night options where the destination genuinely needs the extra day — Sodwana Bay for divers, the Zulu Kingdom Heritage Trail, and Champagne Valley in the Berg.
We have said out loud who each trip is for
This is the part we are most pleased with. Every package is tagged with who it actually suits, so you are not guessing:
- Kids activities — where there is genuinely something for children. uShaka in Durban, the Falcon Ridge bird of prey display in the Drakensberg, the hippo cruise at St Lucia, the tidal pools at Ballito, the Lake Eland suspension bridge on the South Coast.
- Youth, nightlife and adventure — Durban After Dark with a driver who stays sober so you do not have to, the Sani Pass 4×4 climb to the highest pub in Africa, four boat dives at Sodwana, and the world’s highest gorge swing at Oribi.
- Couples getaways — Umhlanga, the quiet end of the North Coast, Champagne Valley and the Midlands Meander. Spa treatments booked in, dinner reservations made for you.
- Adults taking it slow — the Battlefields with a proper local guide, the Zulu Kingdom heritage route, Big Five mornings in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi.

Click the download button on any package page and you get a branded, day-by-day PDF itinerary — morning, afternoon and evening for each day, what is included, what is not, and our number at the bottom. Take it to the family, take it to your boss, or print it and put it on the fridge until you book.
Drive yourself, or let us drive
Every package has a self-drive option. If you would rather take your own car, we drop the transport element and adjust the package — you keep the accommodation, the activities and the full itinerary, and we send directions and stay on the phone for the whole trip. If you would rather not drive the Sani Pass, the mountain passes or the four hours back from the Battlefields after a long day on the field, we will handle it.
And if none of the 18 is quite right — build your own
We have added a Plan My Trip tool. Six questions: who is travelling, how many nights, what you actually enjoy, which part of the province, how you want to travel, and a few details. It scores every package we run against your answers and shows you the three closest fits, with an honest explanation of why each one matched. Then it sends the whole thing to us on WhatsApp so we can quote it exactly the way you built it.
It takes about ninety seconds and it is genuinely useful even if you end up booking something else.
A note on prices
You will notice the packages do not show a fixed price. That is deliberate. Accommodation and activity rates in this province move with the season, the day of the week and how many of you there are — and a family of five in July is a completely different quote from a couple in February. Rather than publish a number that turns out to be wrong, we would rather you tell us your dates and get a firm, all-in price with nothing hidden underneath it. We aim to come back within one working day.
Working with us
Two other things went live alongside the packages. There is a proper Corporate & Business Travel section for conferences, incentives, group and school tours, and staff shuttle contracts — all through one account and one person. And there is an Advertise With Us page, because we would like to work with more lodges, activity operators and attractions across the province. If you run something good in KwaZulu-Natal, we would like to send people to it.
