Pietermaritzburg & Midlands
Mist-belt farms, craft studios and the most important 90 seconds in modern South African history.
About Pietermaritzburg & Midlands
The Midlands is the green, misty farmland between Pietermaritzburg and the Drakensberg foothills. The Midlands Meander links dozens of farm studios, cheesemakers, breweries and country pubs across six signposted routes. It also holds the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, and Pietermaritzburg — the provincial capital, and the station where a young lawyer was thrown off a train in 1893.
