Sodwana Bay Dive & Ocean Adventure
Three nights on the northern reefs — the best diving in South Africa, and a beach you will have largely to yourself.
The Package
Africa’s southernmost coral reefs
Sodwana Bay sits at the top of the Elephant Coast, where the warm Agulhas current keeps the coral alive further south than anywhere else on the continent. Two Mile, Five Mile and Seven Mile reefs hold well over a thousand fish species, and between June and November the whales come through. This is a three-night trip for certified divers, snorkellers and anyone who wants a beach without a single high-rise on it.

Getting there — your choice
Let us drive. A five-hour drive each way on roads that get rural fast, with dive gear and a group. Let us drive it. Self-drive works if you have a high-clearance vehicle — the last stretch into the camp is sand.
Self-drive. Prefer your own car? We drop the transport element and adjust the package accordingly — you still get the accommodation, the activities and the full itinerary, plus directions and our local phone support for the whole trip.
Stay & Play
Your base
A dive lodge or self-catering chalet at Sodwana Bay, walking distance from the launch site. Twin, double and shared options. This is a bush-and-beach camp rather than a hotel — comfortable, not polished.
Activities — all within easy reach
- Two Mile Reef dives — The main reef — shallow enough for newly certified divers, rich enough for everyone else. (Launch from the beach)
- Snorkelling at Quarter Mile — Reef right off the beach for non-divers, no boat needed. (On the beach)
- Whale watching (June–November) — Humpbacks migrate past in numbers. Boat-based trips run from the same launch. (Seasonal)
- Lake Sibaya — South Africa’s largest freshwater lake, with hippo and a lot of birds. (40 min drive)
- Ocean safari & turtle nesting — Guided ocean trips, plus nesting turtles on the beach from November to March. (Seasonal)
