The pass, the border, the pub at the top
Sani Pass is the reason people come to the southern Drakensberg — a rough, switchbacking 4×4 track that climbs from the Underberg valley to the Lesotho border at 2,876 m. You need a permit, a passport and a proper vehicle, which is exactly what this package handles. Around it we build two nights in the southern Berg with hiking, a highland village visit and the best cold beer in Africa at the top.

Getting there — your choice
Let us drive. We handle the road transfer from Durban and the connection to the licensed 4×4 operator who runs the pass itself. The pass is not a self-drive road for an ordinary car — and the border post will turn you around if your vehicle is not up to it.
Self-drive. Prefer your own car? We drop the transport element and adjust the package accordingly — you still get the accommodation, the activities and the full itinerary, plus directions and our local phone support for the whole trip.
Stay & Play
Your base
A lodge or backpacker-style guesthouse in the Underberg or Himeville area — comfortable, unfussy, with a fire and somewhere to dry your boots. Twin, double and dorm-style options depending on your group. Breakfast included.

- Sani Pass 4×4 ascent — A full-day guided 4×4 climb to the Lesotho border with stops for photographs and the border formalities. (Departs from your lodge)

- Basotho village visit — A short guided walk into a highland village on the Lesotho side, included in the Sani day. (Lesotho plateau)
