Three nights is the difference between a trip and a rest. Champagne Valley gives you the biggest mountain views in the country, a handful of genuinely good restaurants and art studios along the valley road, and enough walking to justify the long lunches. We have deliberately kept this itinerary loose — one thing a day, and the rest is yours.

Getting there — your choice
Let us drive. Return transfer from Durban, Pietermaritzburg or the airport, plus the runs along the valley to restaurants, studios and trailheads — which means neither of you has to be the designated driver at lunch.
Self-drive. Prefer your own car? We drop the transport element and adjust the package accordingly — you still get the accommodation, the activities and the full itinerary, plus directions and our local phone support for the whole trip.
Stay & Play
Your base
A private chalet or a double room with a mountain view at a Champagne Valley lodge, breakfast included and a fireplace for the evenings. Where available we book a unit with its own deck rather than a room off a corridor. Confirmed with your quote.
Activities — all within easy reach
- Champagne Valley art and craft route — Studios, a cheese farm, a brewery and a chocolatier strung along the valley road. (Along the valley)
- Monk’s Cowl half-day hike — The Sterkspruit Falls or Verkykerskop routes — real mountain walking without a full-day commitment. (15 min drive)
- Drakensberg Canopy Tour — A zipline circuit through indigenous forest above a river gorge. Better than it sounds. (25 min drive)
- Sunset at Cathkin Peak viewpoint — The valley’s photograph. Take something to drink. (10 min drive)
- Spa treatment at your lodge — Booked in for the afternoon of day three. (On site)
