The Package

Standing where it actually happened

Northern KwaZulu-Natal holds the densest concentration of battlefield sites in the country. Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, Blood River, Spioenkop and Talana are all within a couple of hours of each other. What makes this trip worth doing properly is the guiding — the local storytellers here are genuinely extraordinary, and the difference between a field with a cairn in it and an afternoon you never forget.
