Ballito is what Durban families do when they want the coast without the crowds. The tidal pools at Thompson’s Bay and Willard Beach are protected and shallow, the town is compact enough to walk, and there is a genuinely good spread of things for children within ten minutes. It is also twenty minutes from King Shaka International, which makes it the easiest fly-in beach break in KwaZulu-Natal.
